Sagging Door Handle

Updated

If the door handle is sagging, it is usually due to incorrect installation, and the issue can easily be fixed by adjusting the mounting plates and screws.

The problem may also be caused by the lock case in your door. It is important that it is compatible with a spring-return door handle. Therefore, you need a lock case with a return spring function for the handle to work properly.

Follow the installation instructions carefully. If the door handle is still sagging, follow these steps:

  1. Unscrew the four small stop screws from both sides of the door handle.
  2. Remove the door handles from the mounting plates.
  3. Check that the mounting plates are firmly and evenly attached to the door. Tighten them diagonally to ensure they are properly aligned. Also, make sure that the notch on the top of the plates is perfectly straight against the door.
  4. Reattach the door handles to the plates and press them firmly so that they sit securely and flush against the door.
  5. Lift the handle to the angle it should return to after opening. Then, screw in the four small stop screws on each side of the handle, inside and underneath.
